Folksy Friday - Wooden Treasures

My brother, Gary, is a genius when it comes to wood.  Gary's career and appreciation of furniture began as an apprentice working for a traditional craftsman in Windsor.  His work is inspired by the glamorous yet functional designs from the 'Art Deco' period between the wars.  He now creates bespoke pieces like this one.

Folksy Friday - Chickens

The chooks woke me up at 5.30 this morning so they're on my mind.  Mainly I'm thinking about how I could cook them!!  (Not really, they're my babies).

So this Folksy Friday is for Cockerdoo, Archie, Ginger, Daisy, Rum & Raisin

Wow, who knew there were so many chicken related items on Folksy!  Do a search, amazing.

Folksy Friday - Bennett!

This Folksy Friday is dedicated to Bennett who is ...., who has a special birthday next week.  Bennett is one of those wonderful people everyone should have in their lives.  He's funny, generous, kind, genuine, fun loving and still a teenager at heart.  Yes, everyone should have a Bennett!

So this is for you Bennett, for your weird obsession with sharks, your underwater adventures and your new equally fearless boat hobby.

Happy Birthday Bennett!

Handprints

Just wanted to share this with you.  I got the idea from another blog but instead of sewing the hand print onto a quilt I thought it would be really nice to have it like a picture in a frame.  I'm going to do one every year and put them up in his room.  I did start by doing hand prints onto stones with paint but the chunky monkey has got too big!

I'm just getting to grips with my new embroidery foot on my sewing machine so the writing is a bit squiffy but hey, it's rustic!

Would be a lovely gift idea to use the child's first babygro or favourite t-shirt for the fabric.
